Over the years, many examples of this type of throne have emerged, and many different models.

Drawing a throne is a great way to imagine what it would be like to be part of the royal family.

This tutorial will show you how to recreate a beautiful example of one of these royal thrones.

How to Draw A Throne

Step 1

Any great throne will have elegant and opulent details, and this is where we will start in this first phase of our guide on drawing a throne.

These details will go to the head of the throne, where your head would rest. The design has a classic feel with many swirling shapes and a symmetrical design.

If you want this exact pattern for your drawing, carefully copy the lines in our example and try to make them look symmetrical. You can even add your decorative design if you like!

Whatever you decide, you’re all set for step two of the guide.

Step 2

Now that you have finished the top decoration of your throne drawing, you can start drawing the sides of the throne.

First, add more swirl shapes on the left side of the decoration you started in the previous part.

Next, we’ll use more curved lines for the sides of the chair and the top of the left armrest.

We’ll add more to these articles soon, so let’s continue with step 3 of the guide!

Step 3

In this third step of our tutorial on drawing a throne, we will draw the right side of the throne.

The good news is that you’re essentially re-creating what you did in the previous step, so you’ve already done it!

This right side of the chair is a mirror image of the other side, so do your best to make it look as similar as possible to the one you just drew.

Once this side of the throne is ready, we will add more in the fourth step of the guide.

Step 4

In this next part of your throne design, you’ll add more decorations to the front.

These decorative elements will be very similar in style and texture to the decoration near the headboard of the chair.

These new sections attach to the front of the armrests and have the same classic curly design you drew earlier.

Again, we’ve decorated our example so you can use the same design or add variations if you prefer!

When you’re done with these sections, we’ll complete the final details and details in the next step of the guide.

Step 5

You are now ready to finish the drawing in this step of our How to Draw a Throne guide! This step prepares you for awesome coloring fun in the last step of the tutorial.

Draw A Throne

First, let’s draw the seat of the chair. This can be drawn as a square in the middle, and then you can draw horizontal lines across it.

After that, we add more artful details under the throne seat.

Finally, finish with the chair legs, which are also kept in the same style as the rest of the details. Once these are ready, feel free to add your ideas and extra details too!

You could design a background or even have a member of the royal family standing next to it. What else can you think of to end it?

Step 6

You have reached the final step of this throne drawing, and now you can finish with some colors!

Throne Drawing

In our reference image, we have chosen a very majestic color scheme of rich reds with gold for many details.

If you colorize your version of this image, you can choose the same shades or use your own!

Purple is also associated with royalty, so you should incorporate some of that into your image.

Your Throne Drawing is Finished!
